Vortex Yarns, based in Taos, NM, creates extraordinary hand dyed yarns and fibers, hand spun yarns and custom blended spinning and felting batts. The yarns and rovings are dyed by owner Merce Mitchell, who also spins unique novelty yarns, blends luscious spinning batts, and creates fun and exciting knitting kits to inspire you! Merce is inspired by the nature of the Upper Rio Grande region and uses these colors and textures as inspirations to share with you on your own creative journey. Additionally she has moved her life and dye studio off the grid and uses catch water for her dyeing as well as her high desert gardening. Living in the mountains, surrounded by continuous sky, inspires her in all her creative work.

Fractal Landscape is a non-superwash Merino wool & silk blend that is a bouncy, color saturated DK yarn great for any garment. Merce Mitchell, who dyes the yarn up in Taos, has named the yarns after different scenic locations in Northern New Mexico.
